Camden National Bank reopens former Orono Bank of America branch

ORONO, Maine, Dec 04, 2012 (Menafn - Bangor Daily News - McClatchy-Tribune Information Services via COMTEX) --Camden National Bank opened the doors Monday to its newest location -- the site of the former Bank of America branch at 56 Main St., which had been closed since March.

"We believe a Maine-based community bank branch is important to the economic viability of Maine's downtowns," Camden National President and Chief Executive Officer Greg Dufour said. "So when we saw the opportunity to open the Orono location, we knew we could make an impact on the community as well as numerous people from the University of Maine."

Besides re-establishing service for customers previously served at the Orono location, Camden National restaffed the branch with former and new employees.

In October, Camden National Bank acquired 14 branches in Maine and approximately 30,000 customers when Bank of America decided to divest itself of those locations.

This represented a 13 million investment by Camden National. Other branches now operating as Camden National Bank are located in Auburn, Augusta, Brewer, Gardiner, Old Town, Newport and Waterville.

Camden National also increased its presence in Bangor and Lewiston. Camden National now operates in 50 locations and has 60 ATMs as well as online and mobile banking services.

Beginning at 9 a.m. Friday, Camden National will host a ribbon-cutting and grand opening event at the Orono branch featuring prizes and giveaways. The public and customers are invited.
