BRIEF: UND WOMEN'S BASKETBALL: Brewster suspended one-game for comments about officiating
Dec 22, 2012 (Menafn - Grand Forks Herald - McClatchy-Tribune Information Services via COMTEX) --UND women's basketball coach Travis Brewster received a one-game suspension from the Big Sky Conference on Friday for comments he made regarding officiating following North Dakota's league game against Southern Utah.
Brewster, who is in his first season as the North Dakota coach, criticized the officiating following UND's league game Thursday against Southern Utah. UND dropped a 60-54 home decision against Southern Utah.
It was the program's first-ever game as Big Sky Conference member.
UND plays at Northern Colorado on Saturday in the program's second Big Sky game.
Brewster accompanied the team to Greeley, Colo. However, he will not attend the game, scheduled for a 3 p.m. tip-off.
Big Sky commissioner, Doug Fullerton, announced the suspension. The league wasted no time in handing down the suspension.
Critical comments about league officiating will draw a suspension.
"It's automatic," said UND athletic director Brian Faison.
