Rostelecom to focus on broadband, IPTV

Moscow, Dec 27, 2012 (Menafn - RosBusinessConsulting via COMTEX) --Rostelecom's board of directors has approved a renewed development strategy for 2013-2017, the incumbent telecommunications operator said in a statement. According to the board's Chairman Ivan Rodionov, the development strategy has been updated taking into account the current market trends and focusing on such promising segments as broadband Internet access, pay television, and innovative services.Fixed-line telecommunications services currently account for over a half of the company's revenue, and the profitability of this segment is expected to decline within the next five years. The company will focus on cost cutting in this segment in order to keep its OIBDA at 39%.Rostelecom intends to offset losses from the fixed-line business by generating higher revenue from broadband and IPTV services. In line with the development strategy, Rostelecom will channel 60% of its capex into these segments, while 24% of capex will go to its mobile business.
