China-Iceland FTA Talks Make Key Progress

BEIJING, Jan 31, 2013 (Menafn - SinoCast Daily Business Beat via COMTEX) --After six rounds of talks about Sino-Iceland free trade agreement (FTA), the two sides made substantial progress in all key subjects and decided to work hard to finish the talk.

Data from China's Ministry of Commerce shows that Sino-Iceland trade volume hit USD 180 million in 2012, up 21.1% year-on-year. China import stood at USD 95.39 million, rising by 24.6%, export at USD 88.96 million, growing by 17.7%.

In recent years, China actively implements free trade area (FTA) strategy by signing and implementing 10 free trade agreements. The country now has 18 free trade partners including ten ASEAN nations, Pakistan, New Zealand, Chile, Peru, Costa Rico and 3 regions namely Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan.
