Beyonce: From Super Bowl to San Jose

Feb 04, 2013 (Menafn - Contra Costa Times - McClatchy-Tribune Information Services via COMTEX) --Fresh off her triumph during the 2013 "Super Bowl Halftime Show," Beyonce has announced plans to visit the Bay Area.

The multiplatinum R&B-soul singer will perform July 2 at HP Pavilion in San Jose. Tickets, priced from 48-253, go on sale Feb. 11 through Ticketmaster outlets (www.ticketmaster.com).

San Jose is just one of more than 20 North American cities Beyonce is scheduled to visit during her globe-trotting The Mrs. Carter Show World Tour, which also includes stops in over 20 European cities. It's Beyonce's first multicity trek since the I Am .... Tour, which ran from 2009 into 2010 and reached some 1.1 million fans in 32 countries.

The current tour's name, of course, is a reference to Beyonce's marital status. She's married to Shawn Carter, who is better known to the world as hip-hop star Jay-Z.

Beyonce's latest album is 2011's "4," which became the singer's fourth consecutive No. 1 album in the U.S. and has sold more than 2 million copies worldwide. The effort has produced several smash singles, including "Run the World (Girls)" and "Best Thing I Never Had."

Beyonce's appearance during Super Bowl drew rave reviews and featured a reunion of Destiny's Child. There is no word whether the group -- Beyonce, Michelle Williams and Kelly Rowland -- plans to appear together again.
