China Telecom, Alibaba, Tencent Promote Cabinet Server

BEIJING, Dec 18, 2012 (Menafn - SinoCast Daily Business Beat via COMTEX) --China Telecom Corporation Limited (sehk:0728 and NYSE) has formally joined in the project for the promotion of cabinet server solution.

The project is initiated by Alibaba Group, Baidu.com, Inc. BIDU and Tencent Holdings Ltd (sehk:0700), while Intel China Ltd. acts as project consultant.

China Telecom is the first joining in the project apart from three initiators, and will ally with internet giants to jointly promote the development of cabinet servers.

Under high-speed development of the Internet industry and driven by seas of increasing demand for IT infrastructure, domestic and abroad internet companies, including Alibaba, Baidu and Tencent, as well as hardware manufacturers, such as Intel, have early realized the advantage and value of cabinet solution in large-scale deployment of servers, and have carried out relevant research and development practices.

China Telecom has begun to research on related cabinet server technologies at an early stage, and has come up with related patents.

Alibaba, Baidu and Tencent agree that China Telecom's participation will help better optimize the member composition of the project and will boost the popularization of cabinet server equipments in the industry.
