BRIEF: Axton man killed in Pittsylvania County wreck
Feb 24, 2013 (Menafn - The Roanoke Times - McClatchy-Tribune Information Services via COMTEX) --A single-vehicle crash Saturday night in Pittsylvania County claimed the life of a Henry County man, Virginia State Police announced this morning.
Tonche Maurice Hodge, 39, of Axton was driving a 1999 Volvo S70 sedan when it ran off the road and into an embankment, Sgt. Robert Carpentieri said in a news release. The Volvo flew into the air and struck an tree. Hodge was pronounced dead at the scene, Carpentieri said.
The wreck occurred at about 7:30 p.m. on U.S. 58 about one-fourth of a mile east of its intersection with Virginia 855, state police said. Hodge was not wearing a seat belt, and it is not known what caused his car to leave the road, Carpentieri said. State police are continuing to investigate.
