Kuwait- 25,938 motorists booked, 856 vehicles seized during weekend


(MENAFN- Arab Times)  The General Traffic Department organized series of impromptu campaigns across the six governorates at the weekend and registered 25,938 citations, impounded 856 vehicles and motorbikes, and detained 172 people. The officers recorded 5,281 citations and seized 81 vehicles in the Capital, where 24 motorbikes were also taken and 40 people were detained in the cell; while 27 persons were placed in detention at Farwaniya after the traffic officers registered 3,300 citations and impounded 102 vehicles from there. The campaign in Hawalli led to the registration of 6,500 citations, impounding of 77 vehicles and detention of 57 people, while officers recorded 303 violations and seized 4 vehicles in Mubarak Al-Kabeer. They issued 1,481 citations, seized 17 vehicles, and detained one person in Jahra. Meanwhile, traffic officers at the Operations Unit registered 3,860 citations, and impounded 483 vehicles plus 2 motorbikes, and detained 41 people in the cell. Officers at the airport also registered 316 violations and impounded 4 vehicles. During the period, the police registered 1,356 traffic accidents and executed 25 service orders nationwide. Also: KUWAIT CITY: Ahmadi traffic officers launched several inspection checkpoints on Wafra Road where they arrested 20 reckless drivers and seized their vehicles. The arrested individuals were referred to the concerned authorities while their vehicles were referred to the seized-vehicle garage. Security sources revealed that such campaigns will continue in all areas within the governorate to arrest those who violate traffic regulations.
