Iran's private sector to establish 15 new oil terminals worth USD38m


(MENAFN) Iran's Ports and Maritime Organization (PMO) official Ali Estiri stated that the private sector in the country will invest around USD38 million to establish 15 oil terminals in the southern Shahid Rajaee port, reported Tehran Times. Estiri also said that Irani ports have a loading and unloading capacity of 184 million tons a year. He added that last year, shipped goods rose 5 percent to 140 million tons. The official also added that goods worth USD140 billion are yearly transited via Iranian ports, which stand at 200 ports across the country. It is worth noting that Iran earns around USD1.15 billion annually through transiting goods via its ports. The two major Irani ports are Emam Khomeini and Shahid Rajaee ports, accounting for 90 percent of the total capacity of ports.
