(MENAFN- AFP) New York's prestigious Museum of Modern Art is planning a major exhibition on the work of celebrated French architect and designer Le Corbusier, which will open later this month, officials said.
Le Corbusier, born Charles-Edouard Jeanneret, is the subject of the exhibition "Le Corbusier: An Atlas of Modern Landscapes" which will run at MoMA from June 15 to September 23.
The exhibition will focus on the way Le Corbusier viewed and observed different landscapes throughout his career, featuring his early watercolors in Italy and models of his large-scale projects.
Around 320 paintings, drawings, models, photographs, plans and sketches will go on display during the exhibition, which will move to Barcelona and Madrid next year.
Jean-Louis Cohen, a professor of architecture at New York University who is one of two curators of the exhibition, said the display would provide rarely-seen insight into Le Corbusier's view of landscapes.
"This is work which deserves to be rediscovered for its poetic and artistic qualities," Cohen told AFP.
While the exhibition is arranged chronologically it also takes into account the global influences on Le Corbusier, referencing time spent in Paris, Italy, Austria, Germany, Istanbul, Greece, Buenos Aires, Rio de Janeiro, Moscow, Algeria and India.
