(MENAFN) Gerhard Roiss, OMV's chief executive, stated that the Austrian oil company has signed a deal with GDF Suez to sell the latter a stake of 9 percent in the Nabucco West gas pipeline project, reported The National. Roiss also said that the deal is aimed at improving the chances of Nabucco West to be selected by the shah Deniz consortium, led by BP and Socam energy firm, for transporting gas to Europe. After the purchase, GDF Suez became the sixth partner in Nabucco West, a pipleine project aiming to transport up to 31 billion cubic meters of natural gas per year to Austria by 2017.
