(MENAFN- Khaleej Times) Business Home > Nation 0 0 0 Print this story Dewa to undertake more development projects (Staff Report) / 31 May 2013 The Dubai Electricity and Water Authority, or Dewa, will undertake several development projects to strengthen the electricity and water infrastructure of Dubai, the utility's managing director and chief executive officer Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer said. Al Tayer also said that the Dewa will launch several new initiatives, conferences and international exhibitions to promote sustainable development, and to achieve the vision of the Government of Dubai to promote the emirate as a global hub for trade, finance and tourism. Al Tayer further revealed that the Dewa is also currently placing the highest emphasis on the development of mobile-based services in line with the government initiative announced by His Highness Shaikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, and to strengthening e-services to enable an effective and balanced transformation into a fully-integrated electronic and mobile services infrastructure. Al Tayer made the announcement at the mid-year strategy review of the Dewa to assess the utility's strategic growth in the past six months, and discuss the latest developments related to administrative operations, as well as current and future projects. "During these regular meetings, we focus our discussions on developments associated with the Dewa's long-term strategic plan and review its performance over the last six months, so we can focus on enhancing positive performance and work on opportunities for improvement," said Al Tayer. "We have a strong belief in our ability to address challenges, and turn them into successes and achievements. In this, we are guided by the words of Shaikh Mohammed from his book, Flashes of Inspiration: 'It takes long-term vision and utmost ambition to build a bright future for generations to come.' That's what we follow," he explained.
