UAE- 3 held over drugs, fire arms charges

(MENAFN- Gulf Times)  The Abu Dhabi Public Prosecution has sought the imprisonment of three men over charges of drug peddling and possession of arms and ammunitions without a permit. The prosecution has accused a Yemeni, 33, and a Saudi, 23, of drug peddling and an Emirati man of consuming hashish and narcotic substance amphetamine. The case also includes charges related to possession of fire arms and ammunitions without permit. Investigations showed that the prime suspect, a Yemeni, possessed drugs that he intended to sell. He was tracked down by an undercover police agent who posed as a buyer, and struck a deal with him to purchase 21kg of hasish for Dh241,500. In a sting operation, policemen nabbed the suspect red-handed in handing over the contraband to the cop near a park in Abu Dhabi. The second and the third suspects, who tried to flee, were also arrested. Police also recovered fire arms and bullets' magazines from the possession of the suspects without a permit. On interrogation, the prime suspect admitted that the quantity of hasish he tried to sell belonged to the second suspect, and his role was only to sell the quantity for Dh50,000. The second suspect confessed to taking hasish but denied owning the drugs. He told the police that the Yemeni was the drug trafficker and the seized quantity of drugs belonged to him. The third suspect confessed to consuming drugs and possessing fire arms without a permit, but denied drug peddling.
