UAE- Man accused of stabbing compatriot to death

(MENAFN- Khaleej Times) A blacksmith allegedly stabbed his compatriot to death and tried to run him over in his car, a court heard. The 21-year-Pakistani is believed to have held grudges against the victim and his friend, a 26-year-old guard, after the latter caught the accused and the victim allegedly having sex. The accused has been charged by the Court of First Instance with premeditated murder, attempted murder, and putting others' lives at risk. The guard, who is also the witness in the case, said that he worked at a construction site near the victim's workplace in Bur Dubai. Around 9pm on November 26 last year, he went to see the victim at his room. He claimed he saw the accused having sex with the victim. On seeing the guard, the victim panicked, put his pants on and rushed outside. The guard shouted at the accused and told him that he was indulging in homosexuality. He stayed with the victim until 10pm when the latter received a phone call from the accused, who asked his friend to meet him outside. When the guard and the victim both went outside, the accused, who was waiting in his car, allegedly sped towards them trying to run the car over them. The guard pushed the victim away from the car's path, jumped over the car and sustained injuries. The defendant's car stopped in the sands after running over a pavement and hitting a signboard. The witness said he saw the accused step off his car and running towards the victim and stabbing him in the abdomen. The witness, fearing for his life, fled the scene. He claimed he did not call the police straight away as he dropped his mobile phone when running away from the defendant's car. The forensic expert said that the victim received deep and fatal stab wounds in the chest and abdomen which cut through his right lung, liver, kidneys and stomach. The victim sustained hand and arm injuries in a bid to protect himself from the attack. A policeman said the police were informed about a murder at a contracting firm site. The following day after the incident, the defendant called the police to confess his crime. He was arrested in Al Barsha later.
