Dh 20 million for Emirati pilgrims


(MENAFN- Khaleej Times)  The Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan Charitable and Humanitarian Foundation has allocated AED 20 million to cover the cost of sending 1,000 Emirati pilgrims from inside and outside of the UAE to perform Hajj. The Director-General of the Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan Charitable and Humanitarian Foundation, Ahmed Shabib Al Dhahiri, stated that following the approach of the late Shaikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan to send 600 Emirati citizens from within the UAE and 400 from outside the country annually to perform the Hajj pilgrimage at the expense of the Foundation, has this year allocated Dh 15.6m to spend for pilgrims citizens and AED 4.38m for pilgrims from abroad. Al Dhahiri pointed out that Shaikh Nahyan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan Charitable and Humanitarian Foundation and Shaikh Omar bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan Charitable and Humanitarian Foundation, gave directives to facilitate all procedures relating to the pilgrims who will make their pilgrimage at the expense of the Foundation and who meet the necessary conditions. The Foundation has also coordinated with all relevant official bodies in order to implement the programme in accordance with the aspirations of the wise leadership of the state. Al Dhahiri stated that the Zayed Foundation will sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the General Authority for Islamic Affairs and Endowments, so as to provide better services to pilgrims. He pointed out that the total amount spent by the Foundation on the program of citizen pilgrimage within the state since 2005 has reached Dh 90.5m, aiding 5189 citizens to make the pilgrimage. The total amount spent for the programme of pilgrimage for out of state citizens is Dh 23.3m, benefitting nearly 3200 UAE citizens resident in more than 59 countries. He expressed his thanks and appreciation to the wise leadership for its interest for pilgrims and its directives to provide all requirements necessary for pilgrims to perform this duty in comfort and tranquility and to overcome all the obstacles that stand in front of them. He added that this generous gesture comes as implementation of the wishes of the President His Highness Shaikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan and General Shaikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces and the follow up of Shaikh Nahyan bin Zayed and his brother Shaikh Omar bin Zayed Al Nahyan.
