UAE- Dhahi for reducing Salik for doctors, journalists

(MENAFN- Khaleej Times) Commander in-chief of Dubai Police Lieutenant-General Dhahi Khalfan Tamim has called on the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) to halve the Salik charges for journalists and doctors due to the nature of their work. A report published in an Arabic daily quoted Lt.-General Dhahi Khalfan as saying at a Press conference held at the headquarters of the Dubai Police that the nature of the two professional categories require quick response and speed to reach the targeted venue. He said Dubai Police are not strict in enforcing traffic rules on doctors and journalists in cases of unintentional offences that result from their pressure of work and inadvertent mistakes. He, however, said overstepping should be within certain limits, and not breaching the law and endangering others' lives.
