Kuwaiti sponsor fails to prevent deportation of his driver


(MENAFN- Arab Times) Assistant Undersecretary for Traffic Affairs Major-General Abdulfattah Al-Ali has ordered the deportation of an Asian household driver for committing 24 serious traffic offences, including skipping the red traffic light 15 times, reports Al-Rai daily. A police source said the sponsor of the Asian visited Al-Ali in his office and appealed to him to release the driver saying his children are familiar with the man and since he is the one who drops them and picks them from their respective schools. When Al-Ali insisted on his decision the sponsor reportedly lost his temper and challenged the Major-General to deport 'his man'. He also reminded the officer that the driver's passport is in his safe custody. Then Al-Ali reportedly gave instructions to his men to get a travel document issued by the driver's embassy which was done in just a few hours. The Asian is detained at the Deportation Center. The source added the Ministry will bear the cost of the travel and the sponsor will have to pay double the amount of the ticket. It has also been reported instructions have been issued to the General Immigration Department not to entertain the request of the concerned sponsor for domestic workers in future because he refused to hand over the passport of his Asian driver.. 100 bottles of liquor: Ahmadi securitymen arrested an Asian expatriate in possession of 100 bottles of locally brewed liquor, nine Asian women reported as absconding, a wanted Kuwaiti citizen and issued 140 citations against various traffic violations recently. Reportedly, Ahmadi Security Director Major General Ayed Al-Otaibi formed a team of securitymen and traffic officers for patrolling Ahmadi Governorate and organizing security campaigns round the clock in order to arrest the violators of law. While securitymen were patrolling Mahboula at night, they noticed a vehicle that was parked in front of a building. As soon as the driver noticed the patrol vehicle, he fled from the location. Securitymen chased him and eventually stopped him. Sensing his nervousness, they checked his vehicle and found few black bags containing about 100 bottles of locally brewed liquor. They arrested him and referred him with the liquor bottles to the concerned authorities for necessary legal action against him. Meanwhile, securitymen also arrested nine Asian women working in beauty salons, as there were absconding cases were filed against them. They were referred to the concerned authorities for investigations and necessary legal procedures. In addition, they arrested a Kuwaiti citizen who was wanted by law for a criminal case for which he received a sentence of six-month imprisonment. They also issued 140 citations against various traffic violations in various locations within the governorate.
