Emirates Group annual profit up 34%


(MENAFN) Emirates Group's chairman and CEO, Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, stated that the company's profits during the last financial year jumped by 34 percent to USD845 million, reported Arabian Business. Sheikh Ahmed added that revenue grew by 17 percent, reaching USD21.1 billion. Meanwhile, the group's subsidiary, Emirates Airline, recorded a profit of USD622 million, representing a surge of 52 percent from a year earlier, whereas revenue climbed by 17 percent. However, the carrier's fuel bill rose by 15 percent, reaching USD7.6 billion, up from the USD6.6 billion posted in the previous year. It is worth noting that Emirates Airline carried 39.4 million passengers in the year, up by 15 percent on annual basis.
