UAE's Etihad, South African Airways sign codeshare agreement

(MENAFN) Etihad Airways' president and CEO, James Hogan, announced that the carrier inked a codeshare agreement with South African Airways (SAA), reported Arabian Business. According to the memorandum of understanding (MoU), the UAE airline will place its EY code on flights from Johannesburg to 10 SAA destinations across South Africa, the African continent and South America. Meanwhile, the African carrier will place its SA code on 12 of Etihad's global services flying from Abu Dhabi. During the current year, the two carriers are expected to carry over 20 million passengers, combined. It is worth noting that the deal will also make provision for passengers to earn and redeem miles through the carriers' frequent flyer programs.
