(MENAFN- Khaleej Times) The Abu Dhabi Criminal Court has convicted five youths of using the Spice drug and tramadol pills and inhaling glue and ordered four of them to be placed at a drug de-addiction centre.
The court sentenced the fifth accused to six months in jail to be followed by deportation for inhaling glue. The medical report showed that the fifth accused was not a drug addict and does not need any medication, but revealed that he used a substance that damages the brain and mindset.
The police received information that one of the accused -an Asian man in his 20s- was consuming hashish, and arrested him. During interrogation, he confessed to using hashish and tramadol and said he gets the drugs from a 17-year-old Arab boy nicknamed 'Hitler' in exchange for bringing clients to him.
The anti-narcotic department laid a trap with the help of the first accused in which the second and third accused were arrested.
The police found a bag containing narcotics with the 17-year-old, who said a 16-year-old GCC boy was supplying him the contraband. The latter was then arrested, who led the police to the 18-year-old fifth accused, who used to sell drugs over the Internet.
All the five accused confessed at the court to using drugs, yet denied the trafficking charge.
Accordingly, the court found four of the accused guilty of using Spice and ordered them to be lodged at a sanatorium. The fifth accused was sentenced to six months in jail for inhaling glue as proved by the medical report.
Meanwhile, the Abu Dhabi Judicial Department warned the public of using Spice as it affects one's health more than any other narcotic drug. The department stated Spice is 200 times more harmful than Marijuana.
Spice can harm a man's health and can destroy the central nervous system, especially the brain, which could result in a sharp drop in the respiratory system which, in the worst case scenario, might lead to death.
