UAE- Death for man who killed illegal


(MENAFN- Khaleej Times) A man, who stabbed another man to death inside a hotel following a brawl, was sentenced to death on Tuesday. The sentence was handed down after the victim's father re-fused to pardon the accused for killing his son. Fujairah Criminal Court also ordered he receive 80 lashes for drinking alcohol. According to court records, the incident dated back to mid-February last year, when the victim, an undocumented man in his twenties, residing in Khorfakkan, arrived at Dibba Fujairah hospital with a deep cut to his chest. Shortly after, he was pronounced dead after succumbing to his serious injuries. After a search and investigation, the police tracked down the alleged killer, M.M.A., an Emirati, 24. Allegedly the two were in a tourist hotel in Dibba Fujairah, when a fight ensued between the pair, and resulted in the suspect stabbing the victim in the chest. The defendant was arrested and sent to the court for prosecution where he was sentenced to death, following the father's refusal to give him his right to Qisas (retribution).
