UAE- Psychopath attempts to kill father with cleaver

(MENAFN- Khaleej Times) An Arab psychopath attacked his 60-year-old father with a cleaver with the intent of killing him, in the family home in Al Khalidiya area, Abu Dhabi, before fleeing the scene. Preliminary investigations indicated that the son had bought the cleaver with his allowance money and hid it in his room. Due to his psychological state, the schizophrenic son fell under the illusion of being in danger, which led him to attack his unsuspecting father at night. Colonel Dr. Rashid Mohammed Borshid, Director of the Criminal Investigation Department stated: "The victim was rushed to the emergency room where he was treated from the bleeding resulting from his injury. The police confiscated the murder weapon and went in pursuit of the perpetrator who had fled the scene. When the young man was arrested, he was taken to a psychiatric hospital to be examined." Colonel Borshid added that the son, identified as A.M. and 30 years old, attacked his father, M.E, on the head and arm with a cleaver he had hidden in his room in an attempt to kill him. The panicked family reported the incident to the police. Borshid added: "According to reports, the suspect showed signs of mental disorder (chronic schizophrenia). His family had previously taken him to a psychiatric clinic, but lately, he had stopped taking his medications, which caused a deterioration in his condition." Director of the Criminal Investigation Department at Abu Dhabi Police expressed regret for such crimes, urging families with children suffering from mental or nervous disorders to learn the best ways to deal with them, and to be prepared for their unexpected behaviour in order to prevent such incidents.
