UAE- DEC, int'l law firm sign deal


(MENAFN- Khaleej Times) The Dubai Economic Council, or DEC, and international law firm Pinsent Masons have signed a memorandum of understanding for the strategic partnership in areas of collaboration. The law firm focuses on four sectors, providing advice to organisations in their sectors from lawyers across all areas of law. These sectors include energy and natural resources; advanced manufacturing and technology services; infrastructure; and financial services. DEC secretary-general Hani Al Hamli emphasised that the MoU signing is only the beginning of a two-way collaboration between the DEC and the law firm. It was signed with the desire to strengthen collaborative efforts towards the achievement of mutual goals and the objectives set towards achieving them. The signing ceremony, which took place at the DEC headquarters, included exchange and cooperation in execution of research studies, exchange of data and expertise in mutual areas of interest. Al Hamli stressed the vital role the private sector plays in shaping the future of a sustainable economy through providing international best practices and services. The delegation from Pinsent Masons was led by Sachin Kerur - partner and head of the Gulf region. "We consider this strategic partnership to be a vital artery through which ideas and innovations can pass between our two organisations. To have the opportunity of partnering with an organisation so esteemed as the DEC is an absolute privilege," he said. The DEC is a strategic partner to the Dubai government in making economic decisions with the intention to encourage the participation of the private sector in the economic development of the emirate through discussion of policies and economical plans, as well as provision of necessary consultation; aside from the improvement of national economy, the development of the businesses environment, the acquisition of business community's confidence, the enhancement of long-term local businesses' environment along with enhancement of the competitive ability of Dubai economy in the international markets.
