Kuwait- Assaults against doctors increase


(MENAFN- Arab Times) assaulting doctors in Kuwait has increased due to lack of appropriate legal deterrents and the government's lack of interest in dealing with this phenomenon, reports Al-Kuwaitiah daily. The report attributed such attacks against expatriate doctors to several reasons, stressing that such assaults mainly occur in crowded areas. Meanwhile, Undersecretary of Ministry of Health Dr Khalid Al-Sahlawi revealed in a press statement that 54 to 79 percent of doctors experienced violence by patients in the casualty departments. In addition, Director of Legal Affairs Department at the ministry Dr Mahmoud Abdulhadi affirmed that violence against doctors are increasing in Jahra, Farwaniya and Ahmadi areas while least number of such cases were recorded in the Capital and Hawally.
