Kuwait- Liquor bottles seized from citizen's vehicle


(MENAFN- Arab Times) The Al-Nuwaiseeb Customs officers have arrested an unidentified Kuwaiti man for attempting to smuggle alcohol into the country. When the man arrived at the border post he raised the suspicion of the officers because he appeared jittery. The officers then checked his vehicle and found the alcohol bottles hidden in a secret place. The contraband and the suspect have been handed over to the authorities. Meanwhile, the Kuwait International Airport customs officers have arrested an Asian expatriate for bringing into the country 250 grams of betel leaves - the betel is the leaf of a vine belonging to the piperaceae family, which includes pepper and kava and valued both as a mild stimulant and for its medicinal properties but the use is banned in Kuwait. The leaves were hidden in the baggage. He has been handed over to the concerned authorities.
