Kuwait Crown Prince sponsors KFH banking hall inauguration


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) Under the patronage of His Highness the Crown Prince Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, Kuwait Finance House (KFH) inaugurated Sunday evening a banking hall named after the late Ahmad Al-Yassin at main office of the bank. Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance Mustafa Al-Shimali opened the hall on behalf of HH the Crown Prince. Addressing the inauguration ceremony, Al-Shimali said: "The State of Kuwait is a pioneer in the Islamic finance industry and one of the world's main hubs of Islamic banking thanks to her numerous Sharia-abiding banks and financial companies." "The efforts made by the sincere sons of Kuwait contributed to the pre-eminent position enjoyed by Islamic banking in the global economy. The global Sharia-abiding banking sector represents up to USD 1.4 trillion," he pointed out. The KFH excelled in offering every efficient leaders of Islamic finance to Kuwait and the world, Al-Shimali said, affirming the keenness of the government to empower the local companies and enrich their experiences through involving them in the implementation of national economic development plans. The minister called on the local Islamic banks and financial companies to shoulder their responsibilities in promoting the national economy and contributing to the progress and prosperity of the country. He wished KFH more success and growth under the wise leadership of HH the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah and HH the Crown Prince. The naming of the banking hall is a tribute to the late Al-Yassin - the first chairman of KFH, for his prominent role in establishing KFH and leading this prestigious Islamic financial institution amid the numerous challenges that faced the Kuwaiti and regional economy during the Iraqi-Iranian war in 1980s.
