Empire Oil and Gas secures green light for Launer 2D seismic survey

(MENAFN- ProactiveInvestors - Australia) Empire Oil and Gas (ASX: EGO) has received approval from the Western Australia Department of Mines and Petroleum to carry out the 61 line kilometre Launer 2D onshore seismic survey in the Perth Basin. The survey will detail the Launer Prospect which straddles the EP454 and EP430 Permits, and the Winchester Prospect in EP430. The Launer Prospect targets the fluvial sandstones of the Early Jurassic Cattamarra Coal Measures that could host up to 16 million barrels of recoverable oil if the structure is filled to its fill point. The Winchester Prospect at the Cattamarra Coal Measures has potential recoverable oil of up to 16 million barrels if filled to its spill point. Both the Gingin West-1 and Red Gully-1 productive reservoirs are hosted in the Cattamarra Coal Measures. The potential of the Late Permian Aged Dongara Sandstone objectives will be further evaluated upon recording the Launer Seismic Survey. Source rocks for both prospects are the Early Triassic marine shales of the Kockatea Shale, a known oil source rock in the North Perth Basin. The 61 line kilometre Launer Seismic Survey will be acquired by Terrex Seismic Australia using their lateral cable free system called the Fairfield ZLand System. This cable free geophone system is the latest seismic receiver technology used in Australia. The Terrex Seismic Australia crew, after completing the Launer Survey have other work commitments in the Perth Basin before recording equipment is mobilised to the company's Wannamal 3D Heliseis Survey in April, 2013.
