(MENAFN - Arab News) The Pakistani ladies club celebrated the 73rd Pakistan Resolution Day at the residence of the Pakistan Consul General on Tuesday.
"The 23rd of March is a very important day in the history of Pakistan. In 1940 the resolution of Pakistan was presented and accepted in Lahore, demanding a separate country for Muslims of the subcontinent," Nighat Nadeem Farooque, coordinator of the club, explained the significance of day.
She also further said that this day is very important to celebrate, especially after losing half of East Pakistan.
"We don't want to lose other parts of Pakistan. We have to remember the messages of our leaders, all the sacrifices people of the subcontinent made to have a true Muslim state. Our country is our identity and we have to take care of it for our future generations."
The ladies presented historical characters, such as founder of Pakistan Quaid-e-Azam Mohammed Ali Jinnah, his wife and Mother of the Nation Fatima Ali Jinnah, former Prime Minster Liaqat Ali Khan and his wife Amrana, and freedom fighter Shaista Ikramullah. They spoke about the role they played in history and read out their message to remind the new generation what is the importance of Pakistan.
