(MENAFN - Muscat Daily) Suhail Bahwan Automobiles (SBA), the exclusive importers and distributors of Nissan vehicles in Oman, unveiled the all-new fourth generation Nissan Pathfinder at their Qurm showroom on Monday.

Speaking at the event, a senior SBA staff member said, ''The new Nissan Pathfinder will be priced from RO12,300 to RO18,500. There are four variants and three trim options - the S, the SV and the SL. They all share a 254hp, six cylinder 3.5lt engine merged with a next-generation Xtronic CVT (continuously variable transmission). The basic S model is also available as a two-wheel drive.'' he said.

''Traditionally, the Nissan Pathfinder has accounted for 25 per cent of Nissan SUV sales in Oman, so it is an important model for SBA. The new Pathfinder defines the next generation SUV with a modern balance of off-road capabilities with on-road refinement,'' he said.

''With unmatched technologies and features, the new Pathfinder meets the needs of today's modern families. Our goal for the all-new Pathfinder is not only to be the best in class but also to move the whole SUV segment forward into the future. The new Pathfinder, being 13 per cent faster and 30 per cent lighter than the outgoing model, will surely help consolidate Nissan's dominating market share in this segment,'' added the SBA official.

According to officials, thoughtful technology is found throughout the new Pathfinder's interior, starting with Nissan's advanced, class-exclusive Around View Monitor, which provides the driver a virtual 360 image of the area around the vehicle. The instrument panel includes Advanced Drive-Assist Display (standard on every model), which features a 4-inch LCD colour display, and utilises 3D-effect graphics to relay key information right in front of the driver. The instrument panel includes a large multifunction centre IT display, Nissan navigation system, streaming audio via Bluetooth and rear view monitor. Other technology includes Tri-Zone Automatic Climate Control, Bluetooth hands-free phone system, power rear liftgate, iPod integration and tri-zone entertainment system with second row head restraint-mounted DVD display screens.

The new Pathfinder is the only vehicle in class with selectable 2WD, auto or 4WD lock modes for its available intuitive all-mode 4x4-i system. The system lets the driver choose full-time 2WD for maximum fuel economy, auto mode to automatically monitor conditions and adjust the balance of power between front and rear wheels for best traction, or 4WD lock mode when the confidence of full-time 4WD is desired.

In addition, standard Hill Start Assist helps add control when starting and driving away on a steep incline (both 4WD and 2WD models).

With best-in-class standard towing capacity, up to 5,000lb, the new Pathfinder also retains its ability to tow boats, jet skis, trailers and a variety of other recreational gear, the officials sai
