Ukraine earns USD2b from sunflower oil exports


(MENAFN) Ukraine's Ministry of Agricultural Policy and Food stated that since July 2012, the country's exports of sunflower oil have reached USD2 billion, reported Qatar News Agency. The ministry said that in terms of volume, Kiev's sunflower oil export grew by 26 percent from the same period a year earlier, to more than 1.7 Million tons. According to Ukraine's agricultural minister, Nikolai Prisyazhnyuk, during the current marketing year (July 1, 2012-June 30, 2013), his country will sustain its position as the world's leader in terms of sunflower oil trade. The minister added that Ukraine contributes with 50 percent of the global sunflower oil market. It is worth noting that nearly 80 percent of the 2 million tons of sunflower oil Ukraine produced during the current marketing year was exported.
