(MENAFN - Muscat Daily) A joint team from Ministry of Health's Directorate General of Private Health Institutions and the Directorate General of Health Services in North Batinah governorate has confiscated 3,000 packs of medicinal drugs during an inspection visit to a private health clinic in Sohar.
The drugs were found stored in an illegal warehouse and in an improper manner. The packs had a thick layer of dust, were not stored in the required temperature and some were exposed to direct sunlight, a press release said.
The packs contained hormonal drugs, pain killers, antibiotics, and medicines for blood pressure.
The clinic has been referred to the Technical and Administrative Violations Committee for further action.
In a statement, the Directorate General of Private Health Institutions has called upon the public to be careful while buying medicinal drugs and check the label or accompanying leaflets for expiry date, storage methods, usage and side effects. It has said drugs should not be bought from health institutions that refuse to produce their MoH licence.
The inspection team also discovered that a female doctor was illegally issuing letters for sick leave against cash. The doctor has been suspended.
