Turkish Airlines to buy 117 new Airbus planes

(MENAFN) Turkish Airlines announced its plans to buy 117 narrow-body planes from European aircraft maker Airbus by 2015 as part of its global expansion strategy, Arabian Business reported. The order will bring the carrier's fleet to 375 aircraft, including 25 A321, four A320 Neo and 54 A321 Neo, which will increase its annual passenger capacity that reached a record 39 million in 2012. The order will increase job positions to 29,000 from the current 15,500. The airline also has the option to buy a further 35 A321 Neos. It is worth noting that Turkish Airlines, which is considered to be one of the biggest companies in the industry, already has 211 planes operating in its network, and expects passenger traffic to reach 46 million by the end of this year, and to grow to 90 million by the end of 2020.
