Dubai World Trade Center bus stop shifted to Al Jafflia station

(MENAFN- Khaleej Times) Bus commuters will have a safer ride from Friday with the shifting of the bus stop at the World Trade Center roundabout to the Al Jafflia station area. There was no official statement regarding the change, but when asked, an RTA official said fliers have been issued to inform passengers. The new bus stop will ease congestion in the area, a hub for traffic from all over the emirate. "Yes, this was announced through fliers, etc,'' the official said. There have been reports of accidents involving pedestrians in the area who were in a rush to hop off and on buses. Rohan Alvares who changes buses at the busy stop said getting used to the new bus stop would be a problem inititially. "But it's a good decision and is safer for the commuter,'' he said. Concerned about the increase in accident involving pedestrians, the RTA recently speeded up construction of 13 pedestrian bridges, with construction works in the project set to be completed next June. This will bring the total number of footbridges in Dubai to 87 bridges spreading all over key locations in the Emirate. These include 34 pedestrian bridges of the Metro stations (23 on the Red Line and 11 on the Green Line). news@khaleejtimes.com
