(MENAFN - Arab Times) Acting on information and armed with search and arrest warrant issued by the Public Prosecution, personnel from the Criminal Investigation Department, in cooperation with personnel from the Ministry of Communications, raided six locations in various areas and arrested 13 Asians for stealing telephone lines and trading in overseas calls, reports Al-Shahed daily.
All 13 persons are believed to be violators of residence laws. Police have confiscated from the illegal service providers a number of computers, DSL routers and cell phones and referred them to the authorities.
Smuggling bid foiled: Customs officers at the Doha Port recently foiled an attempt by four Iranians to smuggle 46 kilos of hashish. The drug was hidden in 2,600 cans containing date molasses, reports Al-Shahed daily.
According to security sources the drugs were seized from a dhow which came from a neighboring country.
The Iranians have been handed over to the General Department for Drug Control.
Woman shoplifter: Security guards of a well-known commercial complex have arrested an unidentified woman, who is believed to be in her 20s for shoplifting, reports Al-Kuwaitiah daily.
A security source said the woman was arrested after she crossed the security system without paying for the goods.
The woman had allegedly stolen underpants. She apologized to the manager of the shop and he let her go after she signed a pledge not to do it again and paid for what she had stolen.
