(MENAFN- Arab Times) A Bedoun man and an Asian expatriate were arrested by officers from Drug Control General Department (DCGD) with 220 cartons of liquor in their keep. The contraband was carefully hidden inside a store at one commercial complex in Shuwaikh Industrial Area.
Security sources said the Director General of DCGD Brigadier Saleh Al-Ghannam acted on information the sector received about the activities of the suspects, and security operatives were able to recover 220 boxes of liquor before the suspects could sell them with the help of detectives who led the operation.
The security chief explained that the Asian (first suspect) was arrested while he was loading 20 boxes of liquor into his vehicle. He led officers to his Bedoun accomplice inside the store, where additional 200 boxes were recovered. The two suspects with the items were referred to Drug Prosecution.
Brigadier Al-Ghannam disclosed that DCGD will intensify its operations to expose all criminal activities in the district. He reiterated investigation is still in progress to arrest the owner of the contraband.
Drug traders held: Two Arab nationals were apprehended by security operatives in Hawalli area for trafficking in drugs. They were found in possession of drugs and related tools during arrest.
Security sources said Hawalli Director of Security Colonel Abdulrahman Al-Suhail received a tip-off about an individual who frequents the country on visit visa for drug trafficking purposes, and he was placed under surveillance.
In the meantime, an undercover agent was asked to purchase 30 grams of an unspecified drug substance from the first suspect after obtaining permission to search and arrest him. The first suspect arrived with the second suspect to deliver the drug, and they were both arrested and referred with the items to the relevant authority.
