Jeddah public transport plan approved


(MENAFN) The Saudi Council of Ministers agreed on a draft plan for a major public transport project in Jeddah, Saudi Gazette reported. The plan includes a network of trains, buses and sea transport line, besides a public transport station and a suspension bridge in Obhur. The Cabinet gave instructions to implement the plan of the third public transport project, within seven years in accordance with the phases approved by the higher committee constituted for the purpose. The Saudi Press Agency quoted Minister of Culture and Information Dr. Abdulaziz Khoja as saying that the Cabinet delegated the establishment of public transport company to Jeddah Mayoralty. The company is to be owned by the Jeddah Development and Urban Regeneration Company (JDURC), to manage the implementation of the public transport projects in the region.
