Qatar announces new gas discovery


(MENAFN) Qatar's Minister of Energy and Industry, Mohammad Al-Sada, stated that a new off-shore gas field has been discovered in the "North 4" area, reported Kuwait News Agency. Al-Sada, who is also the chairman and managing director of Qatar Petroleum, said that the site holds 2.5 trillion cubic feet of gas, noting the production from the field would start in the coming few years. Furthermore, development of the new field would be carried out jointly with Mitsui Gas Development Qatar and Germany's Wintershall. Al-Sada added that Qatar Petroleum was studying the best technical and economic option to manage the field, whose reserves are considerable. It is worth noting that the lifespan of the new field would rely on management and production quantity.
