Kuwait- Demand for weapons increases as prices soar: report


(MENAFN- Arab Times) First Deputy Prime Minister and Interior Minister Sheikh Ahmad Al-Humoud has issued instructions to investigate about reports of sleeper cells and hidden trade of firearms in the country and prosecute those involved in the arms-smuggling network, reports Al-Shahed weekly quoting security sources. Even though Sheikh Ahmad Al-Humoud demanded for confiscation of all weapons from all areas, sources revealed that the demand for weapons has increased and its prices have soared. They indicated that the Kalashnikov weapons are the most popular, the cost of which is currently KD 1,500. Sources revealed that the detectives have identified a number of suspects involved in the network and are tracking them down. They clarified that many people are trying to buy such weapons for high prices through ads in social networking sites without realizing that the concerned security services are monitoring them to arrest them in the act. Meanwhile, concerned security authorities in the country are currently investigating a serious issue that has become widespread lately. The issue is related to drug addicts dumping the corpses of their friends, who died of drug consumption or overdose, in front of hospitals and fleeing from the location, reports Al-Qabas daily quoting an informed source. He revealed that the security authorities registered about 86 such cases in 2012. He insisted that the security agencies should distribute and deploy police patrols in areas where such crimes are committed in order to eradicate this phenomenon. Meanwhile, a 23-year old Bedoun was discovered lying in front of Jahra Hospital recently with a heart problem due to drug overdose. Jahra security authorities are carrying out an intensive investigation in this regard.
