Kuwait- Police impersonators rob Asians


(MENAFN- Arab Times) An unknown individual, claiming that he is a police officer, waylaid a Sri Lankan expatriate, assaulted him and stole his mobile phone in Maidan Hawally. According to security sources, the Sri Lankan expatriate was heading to his house in Maidan Hawally at night when a vehicle stopped next to him. The driver claimed he is a police officer and demanded for his Civil ID. When the expatriate started asking questions, the suspect ordered him to go to the police station of the area. He then attacked the expatriate and snatched his mobile phone, after which he fled from the location. The victim rushed to the police station of the area and lodged a complaint against the unknown suspect. After giving details of the suspect and his vehicle, securitymen informed him that the suspect was not a real police officer. A case was registered and investigations are ongoing to arrest the suspect. Meanwhile, an Asian expatriate lodged a complaint at Hawally Police Station against an unknown individual, who was dressed in casual wear and claimed he is a police officer, waylaid him in Hawally and demanded for his Civil ID. When the victim took out his wallet to show him the Civil ID, the suspect grabbed the wallet and his mobile phone, and fled from the location. The Asian expatriate rushed to Hawally Police Station to lodge a complaint against the suspect. He informed securitymen that his wallet contained KD 40. A case was registered and investigations are being carried out to arrest the unknown suspect.
