Abu Dhabi- Rush at ADFCA for 'baqala' registration

(MENAFN- Khaleej Times) Grocery owners in the Capital thronged the Abu Dhabi Food Control Authority (ADFCA) technical support office on Wednesday in their rush to meet the "baqala" registration deadline. Mohammed Jalal Al Reyaysa said the turnout was to be expected as this was usual on the last days: "There are more people coming to finish the paperwork," he told Khaleej Times. The exact number of those who signed up to upgrade their stores was not available as of going to the press. The deadline was initially set on December 31, 2012 but was extended till March 6 to accommodate requests from store owners. Those who have registered have till June 30 this year to complete the renovation. "When you register, you are in," he said. This means, the "baqala" owners can now benefit from the technical support and assistance from the ADFCA and various consultants in upgrading their stores. These include the ready "baqala" (grocery) designs, which will be given free of charge. By Olivia Olarte-Ulherr
