Kuwait- Expats pay for top official on 'leave'

(MENAFN- Arab Times) The Immigration General Department has been witness to unusual over-crowding of clients-particularly expatriates, due to the absence of a director, reports Al-Rai daily. Sources from Immigration Department affirmed the acting Director of Immigration Brigadier Adnan Al-Kandari is currently on leave, and clients desperate to complete their transactions amass in front of the immigration building without anyone to sign their transactions on behalf of the Immigration Director who is on leave for over two weeks. Sources indicated Brigadier Al-Kandari did not authorize anyone to occupy his duties, and as a result, many foreigners have incurred penalties after their residencies expired, and their penalties are still accumulating. They pointed out that the deputy director's position has been unoccupied for quite sometime from the time when current MP Kamil Al-Awadi was the director. Sources criticized the Undersecretary of Immigration and Passports Affairs Major General Abdullah Al-Rashid for not appointing someone to occupy the immigration deputy director's position or someone to manage affairs, while the director (Al-Kandari) is on his leave.
