Saudi Arabia may set retirement age for expats at 60: Paper 

(MENAFN) Saudi Ministry of Labour is planning to set a mandatory retirement age for expatriates working in Saudi Arabia at 60 years old, Al Madinah newspapers reported.

The paper said that the draft law could make some exceptions, such as overseas workers who have considerable expertise in a particular field.

The Kingdom does not currently impose a maximum working age on foreign nationals, while the national retirement age for Saudi nationals is currently 60.

The paper also quoted Dr Samir Hassan, chairman of Jeddah Chamber of Commerce and Industry human resources committee, as saying that any new legislation should also facilitate replacing retired expat workers with Saudi nationals.

Saudi government has been launching initiatives to encourage Saudis to work in private sector jobs, including implementing quotas on the number of foreign workers companies can employ, with those companies that break them facing fines.
