Sharjah- Gang of four arrested following robberies


(MENAFN- Khaleej Times) A gang of thieves, comprising of four Moroccan nationals, have recently been nabbed by Sharjah Police in connection with a spate of robberies targeting various pharmacies and commercial outlets. The crimes took place in establishments in Sharjah, Dubai and Ajman and the four suspects have been charged with robbery. Director of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of Sharjah Police Colonel Jihad Saeed Sahoo said that the operations room received several reports of robberies by owners of various pharmacies and shops. He explained that the technique used in all the robberies across the three emirates appeared to be identical, noting that the cash lockers were broken in the same way. An investigation was launched by the CID team and officers suspected that one man, Z.H., who lives in Dubai, was connected to the crime. Z.H. was arrested by Dubai Police and he confessed to robbing several outlets in various emirates and claimed that he worked with three accomplices of the same nationality. "The other suspects were residing in other emirates (and) were also arrested in coordination with Dubai and Ajman Police. They confessed (to) the robberies and led the police to the place where they were hiding the stolen money and possessions," Colonel Sahoo said. Based on their confession, he added, the suspects are currently detained and will be referred to the Public Prosecution. Colonel Sahoo urged owners of all outlets to take precautionary measures in securing their properties to prevent such robberies from occurring in the future. By Afkar Abdullah
