Spain's Jan inflation down to 2.7%

(MENAFN) The Spanish National Institute of Statistics (INE) announced that the country's inflation last month dipped by 0.2 percent from December to 2.7 percent, reported Xinhua News. The agency said that prices of housing, transport and medicine continued to decline, dragging down the total inflation rate in the month, in spite of growing costs of alcoholic drinks, tobacco and communications. INE added that the cost of culture and leisure activities in January slipped by 0.7 percent and 2.2 percent, respectively, meanwhile, prices of tobacco and alcoholic drinks went up by 2.7 percent. It is worth noting that the sales period in January reduced the average price of clothes and shoes by 14.7 percent, as businesses competed to lower stock through bargain pricing.
