Euro zone's 2012 trade balance posts USD109.2b surplus


(MENAFN) Europe's statistics agency Eurostat announced that in 2012, the euro region's trade in goods posted a surplus of USD109.2 billion, reported Xinhua News. The agency said that in the period, the wider European Union's (EU) trade in goods posted a gap of USD139.73 billion. In December alone, the euro zone's trade in goods posted a surplus of USD15.62 billion, up from a surplus of USD10.68 billion 2011's same period. Meanwhile, the EU's trade in goods in December 2012 recorded a deficit of USD935.10 million, up from USD267.17 million a year earlier. It is worth noting that in 2011, the one-currency bloc's trade in goods posted a deficit of USD20.97 billion, while the EU trade in goods posted a deficit of USD217.34 billion.
