(MENAFN) Tennessee-based LifePoint Hospitals Inc. reported a 4 percent decline in quarterly profits, on lower admissions at the company's established hospitals and higher salaries and other expenses, AP reported.
The company said it made USD36.3 million net profit during the last quarter of 2012, down from USD37.7 million a year earlier.
The company also reported a 14 percent increase in quarterly revenue to USD893.3 million from USD781.3 million a year ago.
LifePoint's salaries and benefits rose 20 percent in the quarter to USD424.3 million, while the total spent on supplies rose 16 percent to USD141.9 million.
LifePoint said admissions at hospitals it operated in both the 2011 and 2012 quarters fell 2 percent, while Inpatient surgeries dropped 7 percent and outpatient surgeries fell 1.6 percent.
Those results don't count hospitals acquired in the past year, the company added.
For the full year, LifePoint earned USD151.9 million on the back of USD3.39 billion in revenue.
