(MENAFN - Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) India's engineering sector has immense scope and potential of growth in the coming years, even as its growth rate presently was 11 percent compared to 15-30 percent in the world, said President of India Pranab Mukherjee in New Delhi, Friday.

He said this after inaugurating the 20th edition of International Engineering and Technology Fair (IETF) 2013, in which around 350 corporations from all over the world are participating.

The Indian President exhorted the Indian engineering companies to forge tie-ups with global corporations to bring about qualitative changes in its profile of growth and inherent strength to generate employment. He said that India's engineering sector's growth was inadequate, taking cognizance that by 2025 India has to create 100 million jobs.

He also assured the foreign participants that the Indian government was taking proactive steps in strengthening the infrastructure network, and toning up vital segments like power, communication etc, which would take care of many impediments which India was facing now.
