(MENAFN - Muscat Daily) Forty eight women, who were assisted in starting a tailoring business in Qalhat, displayed their works at an exhibition recently. Their collection included a variety of clothes for women and children.
A press release said that their training, sponsored by Oman LNG and jointly supervised by the ministries of Manpower and Social Development, came as part of the company's social investment strategy. The exhibition promotes the tangible benefits of investing in small and medium enterprises (SMEs) and highlights how these businesses create value through employment, lead to production and yield benefits for beneficiaries.
''We are showcasing different types of clothes, mainly for women and children. All the clothes were made at our own workshop in Qalhat,'' said Salima al Shoibai, who manages the Qalhat Ladies Tailoring Workshop that made these dresses.
The women whose creations were showcased at the exhibition had last year undergone a course in fashion designing.
To familiarise them in the intricacies involved in running a good business, 12 among them were trained in management, the release added.
