Pakistani woman in custody for attempted suicide 

(MENAFN - Arab Times) A Pakistani woman who tried to set herself ablaze was arrested and detained by police for attempted suicide.

Earlier, the woman had called the Operations Room of Interior Ministry and told securitymen she was going to end her life due to domestic issues. Then police rushed to the apartment and asked her to open the door, which she declined, so firemen were asked to break the door open.

To their surprise, the woman had soaked her clothes in fuel and was ready to set herself on fire with a lighter. She was arrested and taken to the area police station for investigation. During interrogation, officers uncovered she had some domestic problems.

A case has since been registered and necessary action will be taken against her family.

Meanwhile, in another similar incident, a Kuwaiti citizen was surprised when he entered his kitchen in Qurain area and found his Asian housemaid unconscious on the floor, with pesticide beside her. He notified the Operations Room about the incident and a team of securitymen with paramedics rushed to the scene. The woman was referred to a hospital and admitted to the Intensive Care Unit.

During interrogation, the sponsor said he brought the maid from a domestic recruitment agency two weeks earlier. A case was registered.
