Qatar awards USD315m sports facility to Greek CCC


(MENAFN) Qatar Olympic Committee has awarded Athens-based Consolidated Contractors Company (CCC) a USD315 million contract to build the Al-Thumama sports hall, the Construction Week reported. The project is located in the future Olympic park at Lusail, close to Qatar Shooting Association and the Lusail racing circuit and on the road between West Bay and Al-Khor. CCC will construct the hall on a 52,00 sq m spread over five above-ground levels including a mezzanine, with a built-up area covering 107,650 sq m. The multi-purpose hall will have 16,432 fixed and 2,700 retractable seats for basketball, volleyball and handball games. The multi-purpose sports hall for basketball, volleyball, handball, badminton and gymnastics, with seating for 7,500, will have a built-up area of 52,200 sq m.
